We link you to other organizations and networks who do the same work you do, help you plan for specific projects you wish to start (transition from institutional care to community based care, work with the disabled, HIV/Aids awareness etc.), provide pamphlets, text books and other materials plus consultation to develop your vision and mission statements.
• Tools
Organizational tools, website and publicity materials design and planning, ways to plan and organize your finances and fund raising, proven methods of community organizing and awareness raising. Setting up of peer groups, advocacy groups and grass roots networking.
• Knowledge
Our resource personnel come from every sphere of professional and community activist walks. Our primary personnel and their areas of expertise are listed on the “Personnel” tab. Additionally we have a large database of experts that are available to you no matter what your area of interest is. We have someone waiting to help you or your organization!
• Training
Our resource personnel will conduct training seminars for your staff or one on one consultations with you to develop a tailor made plan to meet your needs, taking into account your organizational structure, the culture within which you operate and your ultimate goals. Additionally we are available to help you organize disaster relief aid in the shortest possible time and to get you organized and out helping people immediately after a natural disaster or humanitarian crisis.
A Word from the Founder:
My childhood was spent in the jungles of Sri Lanka, surrounded by coconut and banana trees, snakes, monkeys and elephants.
I grew up at Fridsro Children’s Home, the project that my parents started in 1973. They ran the children's home, hospital and various other community development programs and so I shared my childhood with many other children from all backgrounds.
Growing up in a children's home in a third world country had a profound effect on my life. During my college years, I realized that I wanted to spend my life working with children who were less fortunate and hurting. As I watched my parent's care for the hundreds of hurting children that came through our home, I realized that I had a role to play and there was a purpose for my life.
In 1997, while I was in college in California, I met my wife Julie. She also grew up as a missionary kid in Calcutta, India so we quickly realized that we had a common burden and desire to help children in third world countries.
Our years of working in Sri Lanka and leading Fridsro have given us tremendous opportunities and invaluable experience in working with children in need. We have worked not only with institutionalized children but also with children and adults with special needs, victims of war, children at risk (street kids, children who have committed crimes and those who are victims of crimes) and those affected by the 2004 Tsunami.
In 2008 my wife and I moved our family to the USA to firmly establish World Relief Organization for Children (World ROC). We handed over the operations in Sri Lanka to the local team that we developed while working there for the past 10 years.
We believe that each child is a gift from God. We believe that each child has a purpose and tremendous potential. We would like to network with like-minded people and link resources to help children around the world.
We have made many contacts with resource partners around the world over the years. Our purpose and passion for World ROC is to bring these resources and learning to individuals and organizations that are passionate about creating change within their communities. The goal is that children at risk receive the best possible opportunities and solutions for a brighter future.
